On Physical Exertion

After helping me move a small IKEA bookshelf on Sunday, after waking up at 2 pm and watching a movie on the couch.

I wasn't planning on this much physical activity today.

On Being Almost Flattered

This came during a discussion of whether I should help him move. It sort of makes sense, I promise.

Me: Wellll there's this thrilling lecture on the secret lives of freshwater mussels tomorrow night ... but I am such an excellent mover it would be a shame to deprive you of my services.

Him: Hmmm, maybe the mussels need you more.

Me: Yeah but the mussels aren't as cute as you.

Him: Awwwww, wait, that isn't much of a compliment.

On Being Einstein, Only without the Perks

After I shared this Einstein quote with him, given his affinity for problem-solving: "It's not that I'm so smart. But I stay with the questions much longer."
That personality assessment that said I was the greatest possible degree of introvert said I have a similar personality to Einstein. Which of course means I have all his drawbacks but I'm not a genius, which was probably the only thing going for him.

On the Inconvenience of Earthquakes

After reading the National Zoo's Press Release about the various animals' reactions to the Mag. 5.8 Va quake:

The scimitar-horned oryx sounds like me. "Ugh there's an earthquake, do I really have to get up?" I eventually got out of my chair. Never actually evacuated though. The guy next to me bolted out immediately.
